Every year, between december and february, immense hordes of Buddhist pilgrims descend upon Bodh Gaya in India, the site where Siddartha Guatama achieved enlightenment and became 'Buddha. The greatest concentration of pilgrims come in January, where his holiness often puts in an appearence. For the rest of the year, Bodh Gaya is relatively calm. It receives a decent flow of pilgrims, but the sheer increase in winter indicates some sort of significance attributed to that time of year.
